Under the leadership of Commissioner Kim Hastie, the Mobile County Revenue Commission has received the Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration from the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). Mobile County is the first in the State of Alabama to be recognized with this award.
The IAAO is a global community of diverse mass appraisal professionals dedicated to advancing fair and equitable property appraisal, assessment administration, and property tax policy through professional development, research, standards, and technical assistance.
The Certificate of Excellence recognizes governmental units and individuals that demonstrate best practices in assessment administration. This challenging and rigorous program is a self-conducted evaluation of specific, accepted, assessment administration and appraisal practices as defined in the IAAO’s Assessment Practices: Self-Evaluation Guide.
Over a six-month period, the Mobile County Revenue Commission underwent an extensive review of its workplace standards and assessment practices. The IAAO determined that the Revenue Commission’s performance not only met but exceeded its established benchmarks.
By achieving this certification, the Mobile County Revenue Commission has set a new standard for excellence in Alabama and serves as a benchmark for assessment offices across the southeastern United States.
